. Thursday, January 12, 1865. The Senate was called to order at 12 o'clock M. by Mr. Johnson, President pro tem. Prayer by Rev. Dr. Jeter. A communication was read from the Governor, in response to a resolution introduced in the Senate a few days since upon the subject of exemption of State officers. Referred to Joint Committee on Exemptions. Mr. Christian, of Augusta, from the Committee on Banks, reported a bill providing for the transfer of the Bank of Pittsylvania from Chatham to Danville. On motion of Mr. Armstrong, of Hampshire, the Senate resolved itself into secret session; after which the doors were thrown open and a motion for adjournment was adopted. House of delegates. The House assembled at noon. Prayer by Rev. Dr. Woodbridge. Mr. Smith, member elect from Amherst, qualified as a member of the House and took his seat. Mr. Miller, of Lee, introduced a preamble and joint resolutions on the subject of peace, recommending separat
