the relief of the employees on the religious newspapers published in the city of Richmond was adopted. Mr. Hunter introduced a resolution tendering to Colonel John S. Mosby, understood to be in the city, recovering from a wound received some time since, a privileged seat upon the floor of the Senate. The resolution was agreed to, and Messrs. Hunter, Neeson and Ball were appointed a committee to wait upon Colonel Mosby and inform him of the action of the Senate. On motion of Mr. Christian, of Middlesex, the joint order of the day being the election of superintendent of the penitentiary, was then taken up. The President announced that the Senatumber of bills were taken up in their order on the calendar and advanced to a second reading. Mr. Hunter, of Berkeley, introduced a resolution inviting Colonel J. S.
