The Senate met at 12 o'clock M., and the journal of the previous day having been read, On motion, by Mr. Caperton, of Virginia, the Senate adjourned. House of Representatives. The House met at the usual hour.--Prayer by the Rev. Dr. Duncan. After considerable discussion, motions to take a recess to attend the public meeting held to- day were voted down, and the House adopted the following resolution: "Resolved, That the Speaker acknowledge, on the part of the House, the receipt of a polite invitation of a committee to meet with the citizens of Richmond on this day at noon, and participate with them in a mass meeting, and assure that committee that this House heartily sympathizes with the object of the meeting, but having pressing public business set for to-day, the House cannot with due regard for the public interests, adjourn.
