Great Riss in the Ohio river. Parkersburg, W. V., December 26. --The Ohio river at this point, two hundred miles below Pittsburg, is twenty feet deep, and rising rapidly. Competent boatmen say there is very little probability of any detention to navigation during the winter season, owing to the present high stage of water.

Wreck of the brig Prosper. New York, December 26. --The French brig Prosper, wrecked at Sandy Hock last week has a cargo of sugar from Bordeaux.

some colored men, very much under the influence of bad whisky, were amusing themselves by firing guns from the second story of a house in this locality. The police remonstrated, and finally went into the house and seized the muskets. A large crowd of half drunken blacks gathered around, and, becoming very riotous in their conduct, the officers attempted to arrest one or two. The prisoners, as fast as taken into custody, were rescued. Additional police force was sent to the neighborhood by Lieutenants Goldey and Paullin, both of whom arrived in person and did much towards preventing a riot. The blacks increased by hundreds, and a large number of whites arrived on the ground. A collision between the two classes was almost inevitable, and would certainly have resulted but for the timely arrival of the police. A guards was kept stationed in the neighborhood during the whole night. About forty arrests were made and four or five muskets seized.--Philadelphia Telegraph, December 26.
