It was expected that the regiment would march to the City Hall to be inspected; and thousands of persons gathered in the vicinity; but they were greatly disappointed, when after waiting all day they ascertained that the regiment had marched direct to the boat by the shortest route.

The Napper Tandy Light Artillery, Capt. Smith, was stationed on the city wharf, and fired a salute of 34 guns.
A vast concourse had assembled at the foot of the street, and as the boat came in view the most tremendous cheers rent the air.
