Committee of Finance.--By leave of the House, Mr. Barbour, Chairman of the Finance Committee, was excused from further service thereon, Meeting of Committees.--Notice was given of meetings of the Committees of Courts of Justice, Schools and Colleges, Propositions and Grievances, Finance, &c., by the respective Chairmen. Tribute to Deceased Members.--The death of Wm. Garth, late Representative from Albemarle county, was formally announced by Mr. Magruder, of Charlottesville, who offered the usual resolutions of respect and condolence. The death of Don Pedro Taylor, late Delegate from Nottoway, was also announced. The House adjourned till 12 o'clock Wednesday.

State Convention.--The Speaker announced the committee under Mr. Kemper's resolution, offered yesterday, who were instructed to report, at the earliest practicable time, a bill providing for a Convention of the people of Virginia, as follows: Messrs. Kemper, of Madison; Haymond, of Marion; Barbour, of Culpeper; Chapman, of Monroe; Rutherford, of Goochland; Christian, of Augusta; Gibson, of Hampshire; Jones, of Gloucester; Carpenter, of Alleghany; Davis, of Campbell; Hoffman, of Harrison; Kyle, of Carroll; Baskerville, of Mecklenburg; Frost, of Jackson; Wilson, of Isle of Wight. New Orleans, Jan. 8. --The British steamer Valorous, from Vera Cruz, bound to Pensacola, touched at Southeast Pass to-day, and reported that Miramon was completely routed on the 22d by the Constitutionalists. On Christmas, the Liberal army entered the capital. Puebla had also capitulated. Juarez had been sent for, and goes to the capital on the 3d. It is supposed the war is over. The City of Mexico was tranquil.
