An expensive war.
--It was generally expected that the usurper Lincoln would ask Congress for another hundred thousand men, and two hundred millions in money, to disperse the Southern rebels.
Well, Congress has met, and he calls for four hundred thousand men, and four hundred millions in money ! And this at the commencement of a war which, if continued according to the Black Republican programme, must last for years ! If he be permitted to go on at this rate, he will hagar every man in the United States, and encumber its people with a debt from which they may never be relieved.--N. O. Catholic Standard.
