llowing account of the great match between Flora Temple and Ethan Allen: The match race of yesterday, between Flora Temple and Ethan Allen and his running mate Socks, has been looked forward to in sporting circles with the greatest interest — On Sunday afternoon the double team made 2.23½ in exercising galt on the Union Cour the double team gained an advantage which they kept throughout. The quarter was made in 37 seconds the half 1.12½, and the mile in 2.23 ½--Ethan Eilen and his mate Socks winning the race, after a contest which will be memorable in sporting circles for all time, not only as the fastest of the kind thus far made but one of the mosundoubtedly, it will be the most remarkable trotting match on record. Sam McLaughlin, who drove the team, commenced his old game of getting at Flora, and got her off her feet at the first turn; but his own team became excited and Ethan broke b two seconds better than was ever made to wagons before. Second and Third Heats--The horses did not get off for the second heat for nearly an hour, since Sam McLaughlin perversely prevented a send-off by not keeping his team in hand for Flora to get a fair start with him — At last they got the word, and went off well togetherundoubtedly, it will be the most remarkable trotting match on record.
