Joseph Allen (search for this): article 8
The late Joseph Allen. --The Judges of the Court of Appeals ordered the following entry to be made on the minutes of the Court on Wednesday, April 9th, in reference to the death of Joseph Allen, late Clerk of said Court: "By his fidelity to duty and his capacity for its discharge, he is entitled to the commendation of the Supreme Court of Appeals, in whose service, as its clerk; he was employed for nearly forty years. Its records attest his exemplary character as a public officer. --In life, he commanded the respect and esteem of the Bench and the Bar; and his death has caused sincere regret for the loss of one who was true to his public office, and courteous and kind in its discharge. "The Court would further express their condolence with the widow and children of the deceased, and tender to them its sympathy for a loss severe and irreparable to his family in so excellent and so kind a father."
