Resistance to the in --the
It was stated in the Northern news yesterday that detachments of Federal cavalry had been sent to Southern Illinois to seize the arms of the citizens there, who, it is stated, are drilling in large organized bodies to resist the draft.
In Williamson, Jackson, and Franklin counties, public meetings have been held and resolutions unanimously passed in favor of resistance to the Washington Government.
To show the "loyalty" of the people of Indiana adjoining the disaffected districts mentioned above, we take the following extract from a letter in the Washington Republican, describing the aid and comfort Morgan met with from them in his recent raid:
Two things are to be noted.
Morgan knew, before he crossed the river, who were his friends and who had arms.
Upon entering Corydon he showed a list (and so at Salem) of every citizen who had a Henry rifle or other improved arm, and immediately sent patrols to bring them in. In Corydon the spy was a yo
