The Legislature.
In the Senate yesterday the joint resolution of Mr. Arnstrong remonstrating against the passage of any law by Congress rendering persons between the ages of 16 and 18 and 45 and 55 years liable to conscription, which had been referred to the Committee on Confederate Relations and reported back, with the recommendation that it pass, was taken up, agreed to, and communicated to the House.
A bill was reported authorizing the transfer of certain bonds of the State held in trust by the United States for the Cherokee Indians, and providing for the payment of Interest thereon.
The consideration of the militia bill was resumed.
Before reaching a vote on the bill the Senate adjourned.
In the House the joint resolution of the Senate in regard to liability of militia officers to conscription was received and adopted.
A bill from the Military Committee was introduced for organizing the State forces.
