events occurred. First, the Anti-Slavery Society was born. Then, according to the record—which I have been assured is absolutely correct—a boy was born in the town of Union, Me., Lincoln county (now Knox), adjoining Hope, adjoining Liberty, and in process of time this boy necessarily became, in the main, a hopeful union, Lincoln, liberty-loving, American citizen. On that April day, when a gun-carriage went rumbling past my store, corner Beacon and Tremont streets, bearing the bodies of Ladd and Whitney, killed in Baltimore, I recorded a vow. it was bad. He then took it back and paid a dime for the two glasses of lager. E Lohman.--[Related the circumstance of the drinks.] Saw similar money in the prisoner's purse, but couldn't say it was bad. In order to test the value of the piece he gave me, I got another piece and compared them, and found his the lightest. Prisoner took both in his hand, and threw them upon the bar, asking me if I could select my own. I did so, readily. D. W. Mahone.--[Witness is employed at Purcell, Ladd & Co.'s drug store.] On Thursday morning last, prisoner came to the store and purchased 25 cents worth of medicine, handing me a $2.50 piece, and I gave him the change. Afterwards found it was bad. Saw him on the street and told him about it. He said he would make it good, but saw no more of him. My suspicions in regard to the piece were aroused by its light weight. Martin Kahn.--[Employed at Ezekiel's store.] Prisoner was at the store and bought $5 worth of goods, giving me two $2.50 p

Apoplexy. --A negro woman, named Linda, belonging to Mr. Thos. W. Tignor, gunsmith, had a fit of apoplexy yesterday evening, about 7 o'clock, at Purcell, Ladd & Co.'s corner, and remained insensible and apparently dead for an hour or more, when she was carried home in a wagon. A large crowd collected.
The prison guard. --Owing to some misunderstanding in regard to time, Capt. Ladd's company of gen d'armes, were not on hand to escort the Federal prisoners to Salisbury, North Carolina, and the consequence was that they did not go yesterday morning. --The train was ready for their reception, and nothing was wanting but the presence of the prisoners and their guard, which being a very important item in the arrangement, prevented the departure of the expedition. Unless the volunteers under regard to time, Capt. Unless the volunteers under Capt. Ladd, sleep too late, they will start this morning.
