ἁλι-εύω , (ἅλς)
A.fish, Ev.Jo.21.3; to be a fisher, Plu. Ant.29; fish for, catch, σπάρους dub. l. in Epich.54; “λίθους” Luc.Pisc. 47: abs., Luc.Herm.65, etc.: metaph. of avenger, “ἁλιεύειν τινάς” LXX Je.16.16.
II. only Med. occurs in Att., Pl.Com.44; Ἁλιευομένη, title of play by Antiph.:—also later, Posidon.68.
