A.dead body, corpse, “ἔνεροι καὶ ἀλίβαντεςPl.R. 387c, cf. IPE12.519 (Cherson.).
2. dead river, i.e. Styx, S.Fr. 790 (cf. 994).
3. dead wine, i.e. vinegar, Hippon.102; ἔβηξαν οἷον (v.l. οἶνον ἀλίβαντα (or ἁλίβ-, i.e. οἱ ἀλίβ-)“ πίνοντεςCall.Fr. 88; cf. EM63.52. (Ancient Gramm. derived the word fr. ἀ- priv., λιβάς and gave it the meaning dry, withered, cf. Did. ap. Sch.Ar.Ra. 186, Corn.ND35, Plu.2.736a; the quantity of the first a is dub.)
