An appeal to Quintius not to rob the poet of Lesbia. This Quintius is probably the lover of Aufilena in Catul. 100.1ff., and now, like his friend Caelius Rufus, has joined the ranks of Lesbia's lovers, and thus aroused the indignation of Catullus.

[3] ei: here monosyllabic.

[4] seu: for vel si, as in Catul. 13.10.
