VI (F XIII, 51)
TO P. CAESIUS
ROME
I commend P. Messienus to you, a Roman knight,
a man adorned by every kind of accomplishment, and
very intimate with me. This recommendation is
meant to be of the most earnest kind possible; and
in the name of our own friendship and that of our
fathers, I beg you to receive him into your
confidence and to protect his property and
reputation. You will have secured a good man and
one worthy of your friendship, and you will have
greatly obliged me.
