Pal., and originally Gud., have ‘atram.’ The clause is an exaggeration founded on the conflict of 7. 519 foll. With ‘vim ferre Latinis’ comp. G. 4. 330, “fer stabulis inimicum ignem.” In Livy 28. 8 some MSS. give “ut Dardanis (?) bellum ferret.” Here, as might be expected, some inferior MSS. have ‘inferre.’
