LEUCARUM (Loughor) W. Glamorgan, Wales.

The Roman fort lies beneath the modern village of Loughor, close to the tidal estuary of the Loughor river. The total area of the fort is uncertain, as the W side has not been located, but it measured 124 m N-S. The earth and timber fort built ca. A.D. 75-80 subsequently received a stone wall 1 m wide. It is not certain that military occupation continued later than ca. A.D. 140, though the mention of Leucarum in the Antonine Itinerary implies at least a mansio in later years.
