TORRES NOVAS Ribatejo, Portugal.

One of the most important villas in Portugal is ca. 2 km from this village. Partial excavations have uncovered ca. 350 sq. m of mosaics, for the most part with polychrome geometric designs. One of them, from the 4th c. A.D., has an inscription, VIVENTES CARDILIUM ET AVITAM FELIX TURRE, in a panel with two portraits which perhaps represent the owners.
