ὥσπερ merely introduces the illustration, like “"For instance."” Plat. Gorg. 451A “ὥσπερ ἄν, εἴ τίς με ἔροιτο... εἴποιμ᾽ ἄν”: Rep. 420 C “ὥσπερ οὖν ἂν εἰ ἡμᾶς ἀνδριάντας γράφοντας προσελθών τις ἔψεγε λέγων,...μετρίως ἂν ἐδοκοῦμεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἀπολογεῖσθαι λέγοντες.” τις before εἰ is here a case of “"hyperbaton,"” in which Soph. is sometimes bold: cp. O. T. 1251 n. τυχεῖν: cp. O. T. 1435 “καὶ τοῦ με χρείας ὧδε λιπαρεῖς τυχεῖν”;
