ὀργῇ χάριν δούς: cp. 1182: El. 331 “θυμῷ ματαίῳ μὴ χαρίζεσθαι κενά”: Cratinus fr. inc. 146 “ἔσθιε καὶ σῇ γαστρὶ δίδου χάριν”. We remember his blow at Laïus (“παίω δι᾽ ὀργῆς” O. T. 807) — his anger with Teiresias (“ὡς ὀργῆς ἔχω,” ib. 345) — his anger with Iocasta (ib. 1067) — his frantic self-blinding (ib. 1268).
