τοὺς θεῶν νόμους. The injury done will not be to the senseless clay, but rather to the “νέρτεροι θεοί”, to whom the dead belong ( Ant. 1070), and to their unwritten laws, ‘which live for ever’ (ib. 456). Cp. 1129 f.
