τάξιν ἐσχάτην. While Odysseus was stationed at the middle point of the Greek camp, the posts of danger and honour at the eastern and western ends respectively were held by Achilles and Ajax,—“τοί ῤ̔ ἔσχατα νῆας ἐΐσας εἴρυσαν, ἠνορέῃ πίσυνοι καὶ κάρτεϊ χειρῶν” (Il. 11. 8 f.).
