A coffin, of which the lid bears a cow's head, has been found of the time of Chephrên (L. D. ii. 14, vol. iii); there is no evidence, however, of its occupant's rank, nor even that it was a human being's. Lepsius says that queens were identified with Isis, whose symbol the cow is. For a picture of Isis with horns, and the sun between them (132. 1), cf. Maspero, i. 132.
