ἀπ᾽ ὦν ἔβαψε: cf. 40. 2 n., and κατ᾽ ὦν ἐκάλυψε (§ 3). μιαρόν. H. is quite right as to the dislike of swine; they are very little represented on the monuments (but v.i.). ἐόντες: concessive, ‘although they are.’ Cf. c. 164 for caste of swineherds.
