[414] εἴ ποθεν ἔλθοι, sc. “ἀγγελίη” taken from “ἀγγελίῃς”. The mood expresses a mere supposition, with little likelihood of such tidings coming. πείθομαι is not equivalent to “πέποιθα” but means ‘let myself be persuaded by.’
