[194] ἰερόν: see notes on 1.366, 7.282, and p. 592. This promise is not fulfilled, for Patroklos utterly routs the Trojans on the same day. These two lines with 208-9, or at least 194, 209, are probably borrowed from 17.454-5, where they are more in place, for they are thereafter accomplished to the letter.
