[105] ἆσσον ἰόντες in the sense of hostile approach, as 1.567. The same connotation is found with the Hebrew qārab, e.g. Ps.xxxii. 9‘Whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle lest they come near unto thee.’ Hence q'rāb = battle. For the fut. infin. with μέμαμεν see note on 7.36.
