[207] “τῶν δ᾽Ομήρου καὶ τόδε συνθέμενος ῥῆμα πόρσυν’: ἄγγελον ἐσλὸν ἔφα τιμὰν μεγίσταν πράγματι παντὶ φέρειν: αὔξεται καὶ Μοῖσα δι᾽ ἀγγελίας ὀρθᾶς” Pindar P. iv. 277. The allusion to this line is obviously far from exact, but there can be little doubt that it is what Pindar meant. It is the only place where he quotes Homer by name. Compare also Aisch. Cho. 773.
