[398] πολέων ἀπετίνυτο ποιν́ην, exacted vengeance for many fallen Greeks. This is the regular sense of the mid. “ἀποτίνυμαι” (Od. 2.73) with “ἀπετισάμην” and “ἀποτίσομαι”, the act. “ἀποτίνω” being = to pay back. Cf. note on 13.745. 400 = 312.
