[458] Ar. read “υἱεῖ ἐμὠκυμόρωι”, which is expressed by the “ἔμ᾽” (e)m') “ὠκυμόρωι” of most MSS. Such a crasis is without a parallel in H., unless it be in Ar.'s reading “Πηλείδἤθελ̓,” 1.277. There is no reason why we should not accept the reading υἷ᾽ ἐμῶι — which may have been changed to avoid the comparatively rare elision of the -“ι” — unless it be thought better to adopt Bentley's “υἷί μευ” or Nauck's “υἷί μοι”.
