[510] σφισιν, the besiegers. δίχα does not of course say that one of the armies takes one side, the other the other; but it rather suggests that the poet takes the division of the besiegers (for purely pictorial reasons) into two groups as implying, in connexion with the debate, a division of opinion. δίχα . . βουλ́η recurs in 20.150, cf. 20.32 “δίχα θυμὸν ἔχοντες,” 21.386 etc.
