[641] For the Homeric legend of Oineus and Meleagros see 9.529 sqq. Zenod. obelized 641-2, apparently because Meleagros alone is named of all the sons of Oineus. The inserted line (v. supra) testifies to the surprise naturally felt at the omission of Tydeus, the most famous of them. As the scholiast remarks, αὐτός may refer either to Oineus or to Meleagros, according to the punctuation. τῶι δέ, sc. Thoas.
