[503] πεπυκασμένα, covered up; this is the only sense in which the word occurs in H., and must be a hyperbolical expression; see 2.777. For the use of metal facings for the wood-work of cars see 10.438 and 4.226; Helbig, H.E. p. 143. In Hymn. ix. 4 this was further developed into a “παγχρύσεον ἅρμα. κασσιτέρωι,” 11.24.
