[369] 369 = Od. 16.73, Od. 21.133, where the constr. of the infin. with the preceding “οὔ πω” “χερσὶ πέποιθα” is simple. Here it is less natural and rouses some suspicion of interpolation, though it is certainly not going beyond the limits of the Homeric infin. to translate ‘you are not young, and your companion is old, for selfdefence.’ See also on 19.183.
