[90] “ἕρκεα ἴσχει: ϝ᾽ ἴσχει” Brandreth, van L. But the regular order of words calls rather for “ἄρα ϝ᾽ ἕρκεα”. In any case one hiatus is left. It is unlikely that “ἕρκος” ever had “ϝ”; the only strong evidence is Od. 18.102ποτὶ ἑρκίον αὐλῆς”. In all other cases the “ϝ” is either superfluous or impossible.
