νεωκορ-έω ,
A.to be a νεωκόρος, serve, tend, in Pass., “Ἑστία . . ὑπὸ παρθένων νεωκορεῖταιCorn.ND28, cf. BMus.Inscr.481*.153 (Ephesus, ii A.D.).
2. ironically, sweep clean, clean out, plunder a temple, Pl. R.574d.
3. honour with a temple, τὸν αὑτῶν σύμμαχον (sc. θεόν) J.BJ5.9.4.
II. metaph., keep clean and pure, νεωκορεῖν ἔρωτα cherish love in a pure heart (as in a temple), Luc.Am.48.
