I.to offer, present what one has prepared, in Hom. of the wife preparing her husband's bed.
II.generally, to make ready, prepare, provide, Soph., Eur., etc.:—Mid. to provide for oneself, get ready, Aesch.
2.of evils, ἐχθροῖς π. ἐχθρά id=Aesch.; π. τοῖς πολεμίοις κακά Xen.:—Pass., ἐπορσύνθη κακά Aesch.
3.to arrange, adjust, manage, π. τὰ τοῦ θεοῦ Hdt.; τάδε Soph., etc.
III.to treat with care, tend, Pind., etc.
