ὥς

I.adverb of Manner, like as, even as, just as, ἀλώμενος ὥσπερ Ὀδύσσευς Od., etc.;—Hom. often puts a word between ὡς and περ, e. g. ὡς σύ περ αὐτή, ὡς τοπάρος περ, ὡς ἔσεταί περ; ὥσπερ εἶχον just as they were, then and there, Hdt.; εὐθὺς ὥσπερ εἶχεν Xen.;—strengthd., ὥσπερ γε exactly as, Ar.; ὁμοίως, ὥσπερ Thuc.
II.to limit or modify an assertion, like ὡσπερεί, as it were, Lat. tanquam, ὥσπερ ἐγγελῶσα Soph.
III.of Time, as soon as, Ar.
