I.a village in Bœotia, on the Asopus, in whose neighborhood were pastures which made animals mad, Plin. 25, 8, 53, § 94.—Hence,
II. Pot-nĭas , ădis, adj. f., = Ποτνιάς, of Potniœ, Potnian (poet.): “quo tempore Glauci Potniades malis membra absumpsere quadrigae (i. e. equae),Verg. G. 3, 268: equae, Ov. lb. 557.
