I.a small rocky island in the Ægean Sea, reckoned among the Cyclades, now Serfo, Mel. 2, 7, 11; Plin. 4, 12, 22, § 63; Cic. N. D. 1, 31, 88; Ov. M. 5, 242; 5, 251; 7, 464; Juv. 6, 564; 10, 170 et saep.—Hence, Sĕrīphĭus , a, um, adj., Seriphian: “absinthium,Plin. 27, 7, 29, § 53 (Jahn, seriphum); “32, 9, 31, § 100 (Jahn, seriphum): saxum,Tac.
