Alba Fucentia or Fucentis, a town of the Marsi, and subsequently a Roman colony, situated on a lofty rock near the Lake Fucinus, and used by the Romans as a state prison.

Alba Longa, the most ancient town in Latium, is said to have been built by Ascanius, and to have colonized Rome. It was called Longa from its stretching in a long line down the Alban Mount towards the Alban Lake. It was destroyed by Tullus Hostilius, and was never rebuilt; its inhabitants were removed to Rome. At a later time the surrounding country was studded with the splendid villas of the Roman aristocracy and emperors (e. g. Pompey's and Domitian's), each of which was called Albanum.

Alba Pompeia, a town in Liguria, colonized by Pompeius Magnus , the birthplace of the emperor Pertinax.
