Sosius


1.

Gaius, a Roman quaestor B.C. 66, and praetor in 49. He was afterwards one of Antony's principal lieutenants in the East, and in 37 placed Herod upon the throne of Jerusalem.


2.

The name of two brothers (Sosii), booksellers at Rome in the time of Horace (Epist. i. 20, 2; A. P. 345).
