Hippomĕnes

Ἱππομένης).
1.
Son of Megareus and great-grandson of Poseidon. He conquered Atalanta in a foot-race.

A descendant of Codrus, the fourth and last of the decennial archons. Incensed at the
barbarous punishment which he inflicted on his daughter and her paramour, the Attic nobles
deposed him.
