Nivaria


1.

One of the Fortunatae Insulae, off the western coast of Mauritania Tingitana. It is now the island of Teneriffe. The name Nivaria has reference to the snows which cover the summits of the island for a great part of the year. It was also called Convallis (Pliny , Pliny H. N. iv. 32).


2.

A city of Hispania Tarraconensis, in the territory of the Vaccaei, and to the north of Cauca.
