BAUDOBRICA

BAUDOBRICA is placed in the Table, where it is named Bontobrice, above Confluentes (Coblenz) at the junction of the Rhine and Mosel. The Notitia places it between Coblenz and Bingen. It is twice mentioned in the Antonine Itin., under the name of Baudobrica; but it is erroneously placed between Antunnacum (Andernach) and Bonn. The distances in the Table and the column of Tongern, where it is named Bondobrica, fix the site at Boppart, which is on the west bank of the Rhine, between Oberwesel and Coblenz. The name Boppart is the same as the name Bobardia, which occurs in mediaeval documents.
