RAPRAUA
RAPRAUA (
Ῥάπραυα, Marcian,
Peripl. 2.32, ed. Muller), a small place on the coast of Gedrosia, between the river Arabis and the Portus Mulierum.
It is probably the same as that called by Ptolemy Ragirava (
Ῥαγίραυα, 6.21.2).
It may be doubted whether it can now be recognised, unless indeed the name has been preserved in that of
Arabat, a bay in the immediate neighbourhood. (See Müller,
ad Arrian. Indic. § 26.)
