VERNEA

VERNEA a fort in Rhaetia, on a steep height above the banks of the river Athesis, not far from Tridentum, where its site is still marked by the Dos di Trent. (Cassiod. Var. 3.48; Paul. Diac. 3.31, where it is called Ferruge; Pallhausen, Bescreib. der Röm. Heerstrasse von Verona nach Augsburg, p. 28.)
