SEGI´SAMA

SEGI´SAMA and SEGISAMA JU´LIA (Σεγίσαμα Ἰουλία, Ptol. 2.6.50), a town of Hispania Tarraconensis. We find the inhabitants mentioned by Pliny as Segisamajulienses (3.3. s. 4). Ptolemy ascribes the town to the Vaccaei, but Pliny to the Turmodigi, whence we may probably conclude that it lay on the borders of both those tribes. The latter author expressly distinguishes it from Segisamo.
