SOLICI´NIUM

SOLICI´NIUM a town in the Agri Decumates, in South-western Germany, on Mount Pirus, where Valentinian in A.D. 369 gained a victory over the Alemanni. (Amm. Marc. 27.10, 28.2, 30.7.) A variety of conjectures have been made to identify the site of the town, but there are no positive criteria to arrive at any satisfactory conclusion.
